Surprisingly Samsung is working on an Android smartphone with old flip and folder style form factor. These days when we are equipped with latest touch super AMOLED displays and soon to be announced bendable touch screen displays, folder style is considered as a classic old version of smartphones. However Samsung still thinks that releasing an unusual form factor of smartphone in the market will still be profitable for them. Cashing out the business opportunity isn’t a bad thing if the business concern has conducted enough market research by means of random surveys to know the public opinion about smartphone form factor.
There will be a traditional alphanumeric keyboard attached with Samsung Galaxy Folder. The device will be running on latest Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual core central processing unit. The display resolution of this Android based flip-phone will be 800 x 480. There will also be LTE / 4G connectivity support. Samsung had also released SCH-W999 & SCH-W2013 dual screen flip form factor smartphones in 2011 and 2012 respectively exclusively for China Telecom, but they were overpriced gadgets of their time. We hope Samsung will price Samsung Galaxy Folder smartphone wisely to avail this market opportunity creating more choice levels for their users. Initially the phone will be targeted to Korean market, later Samsung could announce the global release. No official words on announcement and price of Samsung Galaxy Folder smartphone.
